Obituary
Leonard J. Hammontree of DeSoto entered into rest on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at his home. Mr. Hammontree was born February 4, 1921 in Steger, Illinois, to the late James and Christine (Nee Berchem) Hammontree, Sr. He is survived by sons: Mike (Joan) Hammontree of Hillsboro, Lawrence "Butch" (Doris) Hammontree of Cape Girardeau, and Patrick (Virginia) Hammontree of Ohio; a daughter, Barbara (Larry) Cavender of Georgia; grandchildren: Shelley, Tom, Angela, Tricia, Denise, Chad, David and Brian; and great grandchildren: Emily, Zachary, Grace, Hunter, Elizabeth, Joey, Luke, Ella and Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida (Layman) Hammontree, his parents and a brother, James Hammontree, Jr.

Leonard was a retired crane maintenance worker for ACF Industry. He enjoyed gardening and was a big wrestling fan. He was a member of the Crystal City Presbyterian Church and the Electrical Union (IBEW).

Chad Hammontree will officate the services under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home DeSoto.
