Area residents are invited to celebrate the relocation of Jefferson College Northwest, at 6471 Cedar Hill Road in Cedar Hill, during an open house on Tuesday, October 26, from 4:30-7 p.m. The 45,000 square-foot facility is the former site of the Cedar Hill Intermediate School in the Northwest School District.
Following the college’s purchase of 24 acres in 2006 on Highway 30 near Byrnes Mill, officials view the Cedar Hill initiative as an intermediate step toward the long-range vision of constructing a state-of-the-art education center in northwest Jefferson County comparable to Jefferson College Arnold.
“Without question, Jefferson College’s mission is to serve our community by providing high quality education that’s student-centered, comprehensive and accessible,” said College President Dr. Raymond Cummiskey. “We’re proud to be the preferred higher education provider for a growing number of residents each year. This expansion provides better opportunities to serve many more citizens in Jefferson County. Now is the time to reach out because an affordable education has never been more important.”
Open house attendees will be able tour the building, receive registration information, and view a variety of demonstrations including high speed internet access, available academic programs and a basketball skills game. Everyone is welcome to attend the event. Reservations are not required.
