Editorial: Crisis Looming Over Naked Full-Body Scans
3/6/2010 2:59:00 PM by Nick Ivanovich, ConstitutionPartyMO.org

Government has crossed the line. No warrant has been issued to force millions of air passengers, every day, to empty their pockets, take off their shoes and step into machines, raise their hands and surrender to naked full-body scan electronic photo images of themselves, prior to boarding a flight in America. Contrary to our judicial system, there is no doubt here that the assumption is, ‘guilty until proven Innocent’. The purpose of Government is to protect our rights, NOT to strip us naked!

This is a huge violation of our Constitutional  Rights:
The fourth Amendment to the Bill of Rights says, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

One thousand Architects and Engineers and many reputable officials still have questions about the events of 9/11.  Yet that event  was the catalyst to launch a never ending war on Terror, against an undefined enemy and it can be conducted in virtually any country. Is this, the perfect scenario to keep the military industrial complex permanently employed? Once again, fear and the Detroit Christmas bomber event, which caused no harm, is being used by president Obama to erase our fourth Amendment rights and to launch a program to naked body scan millions of Americans. In testimony before Congress we learned the suspect was known to be 'dangerous,' on a 'watch list' and that he was purposefully allowed on to the flight. The Detroit News reported, “Patrick F. Kennedy, an undersecretary for management at the State Department, said Abdulmutallab's visa wasn't taken away because intelligence officials asked his agency not to deny a visa to the suspected terrorist over concerns that a denial would've foiled a larger investigation into al-Qaida threats against the United States. “Revocation action would've disclosed what they were doing," Kennedy said in testimony before the House Committee on Homeland Security."  CNN Aired eyewitness testimony that  a ‘Well-Dressed’ man helped Abdulmutallab board without passport and that a man on plane filmed the entire flight and bombing attempt.

There are many who object to the use of these body scanning machines, including the Pope, Ralph Nader, the ACLU and Human rights groups. Bloomberg reports there are health risks associated with radiation from the machines. Two Muslim women are reported to have refused to go along with naked body scans, claiming they violate Islamic law. Will we let them lead the fight for our rights?

We provide billions of dollars to national security agencies of government whose function is to track and apprehend those who intend to do us harm. The New York Times reports that TSA currently screens only 50 percent of the packages loaded into the cargo holds of passenger jets alongside travelers’ suitcases.  There is no reason to violate the rights of innocent citizens.

Americans take pride in the Freedoms that so many have sacrificed so much to preserve. How can we allow any government to take our liberty without objection?  Will we hide in fear and quietly allow ourselves and our children to be led down this oh so familiar path to servitude?

It is important that we exercise our rights as citizens. Call your two Senators and your Representative in Washington D.C., phone 202-224-3121. If they truly represent us, they need to do their job. They must not hesitate to take action and protect our constitutional rights!  Then ask them to report back to you.

Naked body scanning is an affront to the human rights of all people. The world is watching to see what we Americans, who live in this land of the free, will do!
