Editorial: The Death of A Republic

So it is done. Congress has taken from the people yet another freedom. They swore to protect the Constitution and instead, they have each plunged a knife into the heart of that sacred document. We have therefore moved one step closer to becoming a socialist nation under the rule of a tyrannical government. Masking this transition under the guise of “helping the people”, those in Congress have deemed themselves of greater wisdom than the average American by passing the Health Care Bill of entitlement.

     Entitlement is the word of the day. But when did such things as health care become a right instead of a privilege?

     According to the Founders, benefits, such as health care, should be the product of hard work. The federal government is not to provide such luxuries, but promote an atmosphere where everyone has the opportunity to provide those types of comforts for their families. The Founders did not in any way indicate the federal government was to give everything to everyone. The federal government is not to take from one to make sure another has equal.

     Those in Washington, whom we, the people have elected, have forgotten their place. The federal government is not the head of this country, we are. The states were independent and chose to create a centralized government that was to be the protector of all the states and given very limited powers. Those are the enumerated powers endowed to the fed by the states. Our so-called state representatives in Washington have been overstepping their bounds for quite some time and it is time to call them on the carpet for their misappropriations of our money.

     Yes. OUR MONEY. Remember, the federal government has no money except what we give to it. It neither produces a product nor provides a service in order to make money for itself. It is solely funded by the hard earned dollars of the American people. Why then do we allow those in Washington to misuse our money in ways we wouldn’t dream of in our own homes? Because they have convinced us that it is the law that we give them everything they ask for. That is simply not true.

     Our federal government no longer uses true moral law to maintain justice. Instead, they have convinced the people, over many decades, that the morality of the day is what they judge it to be. Therefore, they have plundered this great nation of its morality and justice until it now sits on the very brink of becoming a tyranny, replete with a corpulent elitist ruling class, their pocket books overflowing with their unearned spoils.

     In as much as the American people believe they live in a “free” country, they do not. For they have been deceived into thinking the Declaration of Independence and Constitution is an antiquated document that is no longer relevant to our day and age. Those documents are what the Founders fought for, lost their property for and died for. Those documents are the basis for the freedoms and liberties granted to the people of this country and should never be thought of as anything less. But the “lawmakers” of this land dispose of them as if they had no meaning at all. When was the last time anyone heard of the Constitution being consulted when a bill was up for debate on either the House or Senate floor?

     This country needs to return to its foundational principles, which include the fact that each person of this country has been “created equal” and “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. These rights are neither conditional nor contingent on what the ruling class see fit to allow at any certain time. God gave them. He is the only one who can take them.

     Although not all of the Founders were strong followers of the Lord, these men knew who ruled over all and therefore, based the foundation of this country on the “self-evident truths” they knew to be the basis of all life. Why then do we try to push the Christian beliefs of the Founders to the wayside, denying Christ had anything to do with the establishment of the United States?

     Because if we are to accept those “truths”, then we must come to the realization that this country has become an immoral land, allowing our lawmakers to dictate what our liberties will be. This is direct opposition to the natural order of life. No man can give life, liberty or property. But those chosen to represent us can blur the lines between of right and wrong and have done so. In committing this travesty, they no longer guard against usurpation of our natural rights, but persuade the people that the laws are just. The people are then deceived into allowing the government to plunder their liberties and property to the point of becoming minions, depending on the government to take care of them. That is called socialism.

     So it’s time for all citizens of the United States to ask themselves one important question. Am I going to allow the federal government to strip me of my liberty, my opportunity to pursue happiness and even my life?

     We must remember those men, who fought against tyranny over two hundred years ago. We must remember the principles they stood upon. Always remember, knowledge is power and power is freedom. Don’t allow your freedoms to be taken from you. Don’t freely hand them over to a government of bullies. We still have a choice. There are good, worthy statesmen ready to take charge of our country once again.

     Stand side by side with your fellow Americans and let those who wish to enslave you in the U.S.S.A. (United Socialist States of America) know you will not stand for their oppression. Shout from the rooftops the infamous words of Patrick Henry.

          “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

     Maybe then those in Washington will hear us. Maybe then they will see they cannot control us. Maybe then we will be united once again in a battle for our liberty and prevent the death of our Republic.
