Prescription Narcotics Robbery at Festus Walgreens
7/20/2009 1:22:00 PM by Scribe Staff

FESTUS –Police are asking for information about a Sunday morning robbery. On Sunday at approximately 3 a.m. the Walgreens Pharmacy was robbed of an undetermined amount of prescription narcotics.  The suspect is a white male, 5’ 9” 220 lbs who was wearing a dark hoodie, hat and dark jeans.

According to the Festus Police Department, he walked into the store, contacted the pharmacist, displayed a weapon, announced a holdup, and left the store with the narcotics.  He was last observed on the Majic Carpet parking lot getting into a gray 1980’s Chevrolet or GM-style vehicle which then left the area southbound on hwy. 61/67.

Festus Chief of Police, Tim Lewis said that two of the three Walgreens employees on duty at the time of the robbery saw the suspect, and one additional witness saw him depart in the gray vehicle.  There were no customers in the store at the time, and the suspect only interacted with the pharmacist.  The police department expects to release surveillance video tomorrow.

The police department has no suspects at this time and encourages anyone with information to contact them at 636-937-3646.  All calls can be kept confidential.
