Ste. Genevieve's monthly Art Walk is scheduled for the third Friday, December 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., due to the holiday schedule.
For the past twenty-eight months, this little historic city of 4,500 has managed to assemble fifteen independent art studios and galleries which present an event that draws visitors from Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky on a regular basis.
Set in in the National Historic Landmark District of colonial downtown Ste. Genevieve, art enthusiasts enjoy over one dozen art spaces offering new exhibits and refreshments at the monthly event.
This month, the Ste. Genevieve Art Walk welcomes Barnwood & Bedpost, located at the corner of Merchant and Third Street, featuring handmade, reclaimed furniture by Jeff Wolk and original and fine art reproductions by the nationally renowned, local painter, Al Agnew.
Merchant Street Gallery is presenting "Merry Christmas from the Naegers - A Retrospective." Join owners Bill and Patti Naeger as they look back over twenty-eight years of family-designed Christmas cards. A special unveiling of their 2010 card will take place at 8 p.m.
Bolduc House Museum will feature Chicago, Illinois photographer, Peter Vagt and refreshments courtesy of the local Make A Wish chapter with volunteers on hand to share information about the work of that organization.
Studio 221 presents watercolors by Bev Baker and, across the street at Studio 188 her husband, Bob Baker, will be signing his book illustrated by Bev. Both places will offer refreshments.
The Joseph Sisters Gallery at 122 North Main presents a special showing of a "A Christmas Story" at 7 p.m. benefitting the Presbyterian Church food pantry. Bring a non-perishable food item to enjoy the family night and relax on lightly loved couches to be given away to families in need through the holidays. Complimentary popcorn and soda will be offered and visitors can enter a raffle to win a popular table leg-lamp.
The visitor's Welcome Center will be open featuring original scenes of historic Ste. Genevieve by Roscoe Misselhorn and the Ste Genevieve Art Colony of the 1930's.
Studio de Michel will be open only until 7 p.m.
Other art spaces scheduled to be open are Mo'sArt Gallery, Galleria Ste. Genevieve, Melange', Center for the Arts, Lulu's, Only Child Originals, Art at Sainte Genevieve Winery and Hayloft Gallery. Look for other specialty shops, restaurants and cafes, to be open during this month's Art Walk.
