Bil SB607 Drug Testing for Welfare

What a crock.  Unless they are ready to drug test every corporation, church, school and politician who recieves tax breaks, subsidies, and other government benifits this is outrageous.

This is simply a kick in the face to anyone poor who needs temporairy help.  It has nothing to do with making the welfare system legitimate or less abused. It is another way to deny to those most in need.

Now add the face that it will cost Missouri an additional 2.5 million in 2011 for what benifit?

Sounds like someone is afraid they won't be able to pass a drug test to me.  What's it going to hurt?  If they are going to sit at home and complain of no work then that is the least they can do is pass a drug test.  What else do these people have to do????

Re: Bil SB607 Drug Testing for Welfare

Did you even read the information. It is going to cost us more moeny than it saves and it singles out one section of people who recieve government assistance.  What it hurts is when the next law comes out that anyone not earning X dollars has to submitt body fluids to be allowed on the street after 5pm.  So many people like you look at this as a who cares. I care! I care about my rights! I care about my privacy!  If it is no big deal than why not require everyone who benifits from the government to be tested? Why single out the poor?

I will never submit to a drug test and I don't use drugs.  I will never submit to invasions of my privacy.  Kind of like old Nancy said, JUST SAY NO!

Re: Bil SB607 Drug Testing for Welfare

wellfare should have a 6 month cutoff for non-working people.and for working families it should be there.drug testing is a good idea for first time applicants with the cost coming off of their allowance.and i believe there should be no cash withdraws allowed.i see people in walmart getting food of say 50 dollars and taking 100 dollars of cash and buying cigarettes and beer.is that how its suppose to be?NO.it is there for food.

if you refuse work you shouldnt get it.i wouldnt take it.not saying theres no exceptions, but there is a problem with all this welfare agenda.

Re: Bil SB607 Drug Testing for Welfare

If we as a society wish to limit assistance by our Government based on private activities like drug use then we should do so fairly across the board.  Every commercial and private business or group that receives any financial benefit ( our tax dollars ) from our Government should be tested and punished accordingly.  IE: School teachers, College Professors, Grant recipients, companies executive staff that receive tax breaks........ Why would we only test food stamp recipients?  Why would we set a different standard for the poor over the wealthy?
